Melissa Cristina Márquez is a Latina marine biologist, explorer, author, freelance writer, and TV presenter known for translating complex scientific concepts and jargon into language accessible to the general public. An avid diver and ocean activist, Melissa travels extensively throughout the world promoting intersectional environmentalism and ocean justice. Márquez is currently doing her Ph.D. at Curtin University, studying human-wildlife conflict and long-term changes in the habitat use of elasmobranchs.
