Call For City Partners

Bring local stories to life through public art.

PangeaSeed is currently inviting a limited number of cities and local partners to work with us on public art projects for 2027.

Public art can create a landmark, bring new attention to a place, reflect local identity, spark conversation, and give communities a new way to connect with the stories and environment around them.

We partner with municipalities, tourism organizations, cultural districts, developers, parks, and established local organizations to create site-specific murals and public art rooted in place.

From creative strategy and artist curation through production and installation, we lead the process from concept to completion.

We’re currently opening a limited number of project opportunities for cities and local partners looking to bring new public art to their communities.

This is a partner-funded creative services opportunity, not a grant or open call for artists.

What We Can Create Together

Projects can range from a single site-specific mural to larger multi-site initiatives and multidisciplinary public art programs.

Public Art + Placemaking

Site-specific murals, installations, and creative interventions that transform spaces and strengthen connection to place.

Destination + Cultural Storytelling

Creative projects inspired by local ecology, culture, identity, history, and the stories that make a place distinct.

Artist Curation + Commissions

Thoughtful artist research, selection, briefing, and management shaped around your community, site, audience, and project goals.

Public Engagement + Activations

Artist-led programming, launches, workshops, and participatory experiences that can extend the project beyond the artwork itself.

How We Work

You bring the local opportunity. We bring the creative and production infrastructure to make it happen.

Strategy

We work with you to clarify the project goals, audience, story, site, stakeholders, budget, and best creative approach.

Curation

We identify and brief artists whose perspective, style, experience, and connection to the project make them a strong fit.

Production

We manage the creative and production process, including artist coordination, contracts, approvals, logistics, fabrication, installation, and delivery through completion.

Have a project in Mind?

Tell us what you’re working on.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out. We’re here to help you with that.

If you have a viable opportunity, potential funding, and the ability to bring the right local partners to the table, we’d like to hear about it.

Is This a Fit?

This opportunity is intended for municipalities and qualified organizations with the ability to move a commissioned public art project forward.

Typical mural projects begin around $25,000–$30,000. Larger, multi-site, or multidisciplinary projects are scoped according to the needs of the opportunity.

Projects may be funded through municipal budgets, tourism or destination funding, redevelopment or placemaking budgets, private development, sponsorships, grants, or a combination of sources.

We take on a limited number of city projects each year so we can give each one the creative and production attention it deserves.

Project inquiries are reviewed on a rolling basis.

A strong opportunity typically includes:

A qualified local partner
A municipality, tourism organization, cultural district, developer, parks department, or established nonprofit or community organization

A viable funding pathway
An identified project budget or realistic plan to secure funding

A strong site or public opportunity
A visible location, public space, or broader initiative where art can make a meaningful contribution

A compelling connection to place
Local ecology, environment, culture, identity, history, or community stories that can inform the creative direction

Local capacity
A point person who can help facilitate site access, approvals, permitting, and relevant stakeholder relationships

A realistic timeline
Enough lead time for artist selection, creative development, approvals, and production

    FAQS

Who can submit a project inquiry?

We welcome inquiries from municipalities, tourism organizations, cultural districts, developers, parks departments, and established nonprofit or community organizations that have the ability to move a public art project forward.

Individual artists and members of the general public should not submit project inquiries unless they are representing or working directly with a qualified project partner.

How much does a project cost?

Typical mural projects begin around $25,000–$30,000, depending on scale, location, artist, site conditions, travel, production needs, and other project requirements.

Larger, multi-site, or multidisciplinary initiatives are scoped individually.

Do we need to have funding secured before reaching out?

    Not necessarily.

You should have either an identified project budget or a realistic pathway to funding. We’re happy to speak with qualified partners while funding is being developed, but PangeaSeed does not provide project funding through this opportunity.

    What does PangeaSeed handle?

Depending on the project scope, PangeaSeed can lead:

    • Creative strategy and concept development
    • Artist research, curation, and contracting
    • Creative briefs and art direction
    • Budget and production planning
    • Artist and stakeholder coordination
    • Production logistics and installation
    • On-site project management
    • Documentation and additional programming when included in the scope

Our role is tailored to the needs of each project.

What does the local partner handle?

Local partners typically help provide or identify the project site, facilitate local approvals and permitting, connect relevant stakeholders, and provide a local point of contact.

The exact division of responsibilities is established during project scoping.

Can we work with PangeaSeed on just one mural?

    Yes.

Projects can range from a single site-specific mural to larger multi-site initiatives, installations, and broader public art programs.

Does the project have to be about the ocean?

    Not necessarily.

The strongest projects generally connect to place, environment, ecology, culture, or community in a way that aligns with PangeaSeed’s broader creative and environmental focus. We shape the specific story and creative approach with each partner.

How far in advance should we reach out?

    As early as possible.

Timelines vary by project, but public art often involves artist selection, site approvals, contracting, permitting, fabrication, and production planning before installation begins.

If you have a potential opportunity, it is better to start the conversation before every detail is finalized.
