Jonny Alexander is a multi-disciplinary artists based in San Diego. Since receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University, Chico in 2013 he has been working in a diverse range of art practices. This includes exhibiting paintings, sculptures and installations as well as public art works in the form of murals and commercial collaborations in design and branding.
Over Alexander’s career a through line in his work has been observations of nature and human’s interaction/ connection with it. Through painting and sculpture he attempts to blur the line that separates the natural world from the manufactured world believing this understanding can lead to a strengthened health in both humans and the environment.
Jonny has shown works at the Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art as well as solo exhibitions at Swish Projects (San Diego) and Good Faith (San Diego). His exhibiting includes a long list of group exhibitions at galleries such as Thinkspace Gallery (Los Angeles), Hashimoto Contemporary (Los Angeles), Cass Contemporary (Tampa), 111 Minna (San Francisco) among others. Public and private murals have been completed across the United State and abroad including San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Mexico and New Zealand. He also has works in the permanent collection of the Janet Turner Print Museum.
