Before moving to Hilo in 2022, Board member Laurie Rich spent seven years as the executive director of the David Brower Center in Berkeley, CA, a platinum-rated LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) 55,000sq ft multi-use building encompassing exhibitions and public programming, leased space, a restaurant, and a conference center. She managed a $1.7 million budget, led a strategic planning effort to unite the art and educational programming, oversaw all facility and leasing operations, and ensured financial stability for the Center. She is currently the Director for Events & External Relations for the Children & Nature Network, and has prior experience in venue management, sales and trade show production.
