Born and raised in Maui, Hawaiʻi, Matthew Agcolicol nurtured his aspirations of exploring the meanings of life through visual art. Inspired by the Hawaiian Islands’ diverse and complex ecosystems he creates paintings that reflect his interpretation of the natural world. A zen-like meditative element is found within his work that depict the harmonious reverberations of life. Agcolicol continues to transcend the surface of his canvas by discovering new concepts that question, spirituality, nature, and scientific findings. After acquiring his Bachelors in Fine Art at San Diego State University, College of Art and Design he returned to his island home Maui to continue his journey as an artist. Agcolicol has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions in California and Hawaiʻi while also extending his creativity in realms of product design for many start up companies.
