About the Project
Ocean lovers, artists, musicians, locals, and more joined us on May 19, 2018 at the Volcom Garden in Austin, Texas for art and music as we teamed up with Volcom for an exhibition to help raise awareness for our beloved oceans.
There were over 100 artworks on display and live music by Magnet School and Black Mercy. This event also celebrated the exclusive Volcom X PangeaSeed product by featured artists Aaron Glasson and Jason Botkin where a portion of the proceeds were donated to PangeaSeed to help raise awareness of environmental issues affecting our oceans.
For the first time, we opened our archives and featured a selection of over 100 art prints, created by some of today’s most renowned contemporary artists, for our Printed Oceans program. Each artwork focuses on a specific threatened ocean species, vulnerable habitat, or environmental issue. Also on display were the winning artworks of the Sea of Change Artivism Contest.
In addition to the exhibition, Aaron Glasson and Jason Botkin painted a large-scale mural on the exterior facade of the Volcom Garden highlighting the Whooping Crane, one of the most endangered birds in the world that migrates to Texas from mid-October to late April each year.
