About the Project
As a founding partner, PangeaSeed played a pivotal role in the inaugural Youth Artivists Hawaiʻi, a transformative initiative empowering young minds to merge art and science in addressing ocean conservation.
This week-long summer camp provided middle school students with a unique platform to delve into environmental art and ocean science, fostering creativity and awareness of pressing ocean issues. Guided by professional muralist Cinzah Merkens from New Zealand, participants had the opportunity to translate their newfound knowledge into the mural installed at MEGA Lab inside the Mokupāpapa Discovery Center. Through hands-on activities, field trips, and community events, Youth ARTivists Hawaiʻi not only enriched the lives of its participants but also ignited a passion for marine conservation within the broader community. This collaborative effort, made possible by partnerships with the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center and Mega Lab, as well as funding from the Wanderlust Fund, Atherton Family Foundation, and First Hawaiian Bank, underscores PangeaSeed’s commitment to empowering the next generation of ocean stewards through innovative STEAM education initiatives.
